Marketing Manager

FUNCTION: Manage all aspects of marketing, communications and public relations activities at IDEA. Provide strategic direction for the marketing department and collaborate with the team to execute tactics. Supervise the marketing team by providing guidance on prioritization and approvals on all corporate communications. This full-time position will report to the President and CEO and will be located at the IDEA office in Arlington, VA.


  • Develop, manage and execute marketing plans for long and short-term goals
  • Recruit, train and supervise marketing team members (currently, two direct reports)
  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute internal and external communications
  • Guide the creative direction of IDEA’s brand and position in the industry
  • Manage third-party creative and technical vendors to execute special projects
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of IDEA’s corporate web properties 
  • Develop and maintain product marketing materials including, but not limited to, web and brochure copy, email creative, webinars, demo videos, articles and presentations 
  • Oversee IDEA’s social media strategy and engagement efforts
  • Act as Editor-in-Chief of IDEA’s customer electronic publications
  • Lead IDEA’s co-marketing efforts and develop/nurture relationships with key partners and customers
  • Create and manage IDEA’s annual marketing budget
    • Analyze, track and adjust marketing spend as needed
    • Communicate ROI from marketing efforts 
  • Lead marketing for industry events (approximately 25 events per year) including IDEA’s annual customer event, the IDEA E-Biz Forum
    • Work closely with the sales team to schedule appointments and follow-ups
    • Become an integral member of the IDEA E-Biz Forum annual event committee 
    • Provide event marketing consultation and support
  • Develop executive briefings upon request
  • Participate in leadership meetings and strategic planning sessions
  • Monitor press coverage in trade publications and assist with projects to increase media coverage
  • Purchase media space and provide creative direction for advertisements
  • Assist with special projects as they arise 



  • 3-6 years professional experience in the marketing and communications field
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Advertising or a related discipline  (related master’s degree is preferred)
  • Expertise in bridging the gap between marketing and IT 
  • Experience communicating complex topics in layman’s terms
  • Passionate about quality and devoted to detail 
  • An eye for creative design
  • Strong writing, communication and proofreading skills 
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented and social personality, comfortable in a corporate environment 
  • Fundamental knowledge of content management systems, email marketing and customer relationship management software
