Are You Missing IDX Reports?

From the desk of Tom Guzik, Manager of B2B EDI Solutions at IDEA

Industry Data Exchange (IDX) users have access to several IDX standard traffic report options that can be delivered via FTP or email on a daily or monthly basis.  Scheduling reports can save users time and increase visibility of valuable business information. The reports also automate data manipulation in the IDX Tracker. Below is an overview of report types so you can choose which ones will help improve your EDI processes.

How IDX Reports Help:

  • Operational Reports — Download daily reports into your EDI translation software or business application to reconcile against internal records or email the reports to the EDI manager for review. For example, you can ensure that you received all PO’s from your customers by choosing the “850 Only” report and comparing the PO numbers in this report against the PO’s in your business system.  You can do the same for other operational reports, or choose one daily report for all document types using the “AllDocs” (short version) report or the “Advanced”(longer version) report.

  • Managerial/Exception Reports — If you have sudden customer demand or a significant increase in EDI volume, exception reporting can help you focus on only items that need your attention and ensure that processes are accurate.  For example, the “OverDueAck” report can tell you which 850 PO’s sent did not get an EDI 997 acknowledgement in the past 24 hours. The “NegativeAck” report lists EDI documents where the 997 acknowledgement contained an error condition (rejected).

  • Billing reports —Your billing information could be consolidated into a detailed monthly report that you can use to quickly reconcile your invoices. You have the option of the “Analysis” report (short version) or the “AllDocsBasic”(long version listing every document sent) report.
