Title: Junior System Administrator

Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a junior system administrator to join our team. The administrator must demonstrate broad knowledge of computer software, hardware, and networks. They will be responsible for modifying and supporting our company’s computer systems. The administrator will monitor and manage our Master Data Management platform. The administrator will oversee local area networks, wide area networks, and network segments. Daily tasks may include installing, upgrading, and monitoring software and hardware. The administrator will maintain the essentials such as operating systems, business applications, security tools, web servers, email, laptop, and desktop PCs.

Reports to: Director of IT

Key responsibilities:

  • Support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems
  • Ensure all system components work properly together
  • Monitor and maintain network and system security
  • Troubleshoot problems reported by users and analyze and isolate issues
  • Evaluate and modify the system’s performance
  • Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers
  • Maintain the integrity of the network, server deployment, and security
  • Ensure network connectivity throughout a company’s LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations
  • Maintain network servers such as file servers, and VPN gateways
  • Perform network address assignment
  • Maintain configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services
  • Inventory management on business hardware and applications
  • Administer servers, laptop and desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, company mobile phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Preferred, Computer Science degree or IT technical certification
  • Specific experience maintaining and patching Windows Server 2016 to 2019, CentOS, and Ubuntu.
  • Working knowledge of Office 365 and Microsoft Office tools
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
  • Familiar with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or Nagios
  • Document IT processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of networking concepts such as IP addressing, network ports and protocols
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL server and Master Data Management applications is preferred.
