The deadline for manufacturers to achieve compliance in the Industry Data Warehouse (IDW) is approaching. Effective October 1, 2015, manufacturers must have their critical fields 95%+ populated to meet the compliance requirement within the Data Certification Program and ensure that their data is available to their trading partners for download.
IDEA has developed several data management tools and provides various means of support for manufacturers who are working toward achieving compliance. Below is a list of resources available to manufacturers. If you have questions regarding any of the following tools, please contact your Data Management Specialist, or email email@example.com.
- IDW Compliance Module
Available to IDW for Manufacturer (IDW-M) subscribers, the IDW Compliance Module is a tool through which manufacturers can assess their current progress toward achieving compliance. An item is considered compliant when each of its critical data fields (determined by IDEA and the industry as essential to conducting business in the electrical channel) is populated.
The tool provides several ways to assess data, enabling your team to break down the project in different segments (e.g., SKUs with a range of incomplete fields, active SKUs, or new SKUs loaded since February 1, 2015).
This module can be accessed by navigating through your IDW main menu: Advanced > Information > Data Certification > Compliance.
- Topline Reports
One of the Data Certification reports available in the IDW is a topline report for executives, updated nightly with the latest stats on your progress toward compliance. This breakdown includes basic metrics, in addition to completion percentage by field, showing which of the 43 critical fields may need the most attention.
This report can be accessed by navigating through your IDW main menu: Advanced > Information > Data Certification > “Printer Friendly” hyperlink located on the top left of the webpage.
- Data Management Specialist Consulting and Support
Our Data Management Specialist (DMS) team is available during business hours to assist you with your account. Our specialists – knowledgeable about product data, standards regulations, IDW tools, and the Data Certification Program – can work with you to figure out the best plan of action and assist with any troubleshooting questions that may arise as you load your data.
- Critical Content Fulfillment Service
The Critical Content Fulfillment Service gives you the option to outsource some (or all) of the data gathering and formatting work to quickly populate the critical data fields for your items in the IDW in less time and cost than it would take with your internal resources alone. We work directly with you to ensure the information used meets your company’s requirements in addition to industry data quality standards. You provide or authorize sources for IDEA to obtain your information to fill the critical fields. We will translate that data into a standardized format, keeping you informed throughout the process. Once the project is complete, you will have a turnkey process in place to maintain it.
- IDW training videos
If you prefer to learn on your own, IDEA offers a complete set of IDW training videos and quick reference guides, available to IDW subscribers. These videos walk through how to load data into the IDW, as well as how to use various features of the IDW.
To access these videos using the main navigation bar in the IDW, go to: Advanced > Information > Documents > “IDW Training Resources”
- 43 critical fields guidelines document
The IDW also houses a document detailing the guidelines for achieving compliance and excellence for each critical field. This document also contains the definition of each field. If you are unsure what the “ARRA” or “BAA” fields are, for example, you can quickly reference this guide.
To access, navigate to the Data Certification landing page, where you can click on the “Guidelines” button in the upper right-hand corner to download.
- Data Certification Blog Posts
IDEA’s blog contains numerous articles and resources relating to the Data Certification Program and compliance. The blog is updated regularly, so you can always check out the “Data Certification Program” tag to read the latest news.
