The IDEA Industry Standards Committee (ISC) held their first meeting of 2009 on February 11 – 12 at the IDEA headquarters in Arlington, VA. The meeting was successful under the new structure, which is intended to streamline the standards process and align it with IDEA’s new strategic plan supporting the needs of the electrical channel.
The ISC began their meeting with two subcommittee (SC) sessions – Data Content & Quality SC and B2B Communications SC. The SC sessions focused on specific topics and deliverables and were followed with a main ISC meeting. The second day concluded with a Product Information SC session focused on the progress of the Industry Data Warehouse (IDW) Attribute Schema development.
“It was very heartening to see the wonderful turnout to our first 2009 meeting – it was a true testament to the commitment of the volunteers present and the companies they represent. The passion of these volunteers demonstrates that the industry truly believes in the benefits of collaboration in the development of industry-wide standards to help drive costs out of the electrical supply chain,” said Mary Shaw, Standards Director, IDEA. “Every manufacturer and distributor in the channel should be extremely proud of what these individuals and their respective companies are doing for the community as a whole.”
The next meeting will be hosted by Graybar Electric at their St. Louis headquarters the first week of May.
