IDEA released the production version of the Industry Data Warehouse (IDW) Utilities Workstation this Monday, November 30th. This new data editing tool within IDW gives manufacturers the capability to quickly search and edit product data or correct minor data entry errors on-the-spot.
The workstation provides manufacturers with a higher level of efficiency and access to product line data management. Both the data editing and error correction functionalities are designed to help product data managers make quick fixes when product attributes have changed, or when they notice a mistake within their main data loads.
“The new IDW Utilities Workstation is a huge time saver. The tool is extremely user-friendly, making it easy for me to search and navigate to the specific field that needs to be corrected,” said Barbara Prince, Pricing & Quotations Manager, Thomas & Betts. “Our internal data management processes are strong but minor mistakes can still occur. It’s reassuring to know there is a solution available to quickly fix those errors without interfering with our internal systems.”
The Utilities Workstation gives manufacturers the ability to edit individual field values within their product data while bypassing their lengthy EZView or EDI data loading routine. For example, price changes to a specific class of products can be completed very quickly using the workstation search and edit tools (see example screenshot below).
The workstation also provides an interface for quickly managing data entry errors identified during the EZView or EDI data loads. The cause of the errors or error type can be searched, reviewed, edited and resubmitted within the workstation interface. For example, if a manufacturer receives a Pricing Zone Code error message from their data load report, that error will be stored and searchable in the workstation. Once you are ready to make a correction, you can edit the data for the individual field or entire column (see screen shot below).
The Utilities Workstation is available to all manufacturer users of IDW at no additional cost and the step-by-step user guide is located on the IDEA Portal under Training > IDW > User Guides. The upcoming training dates and times are Thursday, December 10 and 17, 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM EST. Individual and group training sessions can be scheduled by contacting Josh Given, Manager Data Synchronization Platform at (302) 525-2800.
