Your company’s firewall creates a barrier between a trusted, secure internal network and an external one, such as the Internet. When companies update their firewall via software or hardware updates, the assigned IP address – used to identify the host or network interface and the network’s location – often changes.
To ensure that electronic data interchange (EDI) transactions are secure on IDEA’s Industry Data Exchange (IDX) network, only registered IP addresses are allowed access to the IDX mailbox, preventing unauthorized systems from gaining access.
Whenever you change or update your company firewall or network, resulting in a change to your IP address, please notify IDX support at least 48 hours in advance. In your message, include the new IP address and indicate if the old IP will no longer be used. This allows IDEA to update the system’s whitelist with your new IP address and remove any old ones, preserving the security of the IDX and your company’s data.
If you have any further questions about firewalls, please contact IDEA’s B2B Solutions Manager, Tom Guzik at firstname.lastname@example.org.
