Rockwell Automation’s Tessa Myers is Bringing Global Perspective to IDEA’s Mission
Tessa Myers, IDEA Board Officer
SVP, Intelligent Devices, Rockwell Automation

For Tessa Myers, serving on the IDEA Board is a chance to strengthen the connection between distributors, manufacturers, and the customers they serve together. As Senior Vice President of Intelligent Devices at Rockwell Automation, she brings over 26 years of global experience in industrial automation and a deep understanding of how information enables ease of doing business across the value chain.
“IDEA plays a vital role in the exchange of information between manufacturing and distribution,” Tessa says. “By making product data more accessible and usable, IDEA makes it easier for partners to serve customers and for customers to make informed decisions.”
A Global View
Tessa’s career at Rockwell has spanned leadership roles in both business units and sales and marketing. She has lived and worked in Singapore and Canada, and today she carries global responsibility for Rockwell’s Intelligent Devices portfolio. That background, she says, gives her a broader perspective to bring to the board.
“While IDEA’s footprint is strongest in North America, distributor partners that leverage IDEA’s services are becoming increasingly global,” she notes. “My experience allows me to bring global context and best practices to the discussion as IDEA considers its own growth levers, whether that’s enhancing value for existing customers, expanding into new product categories, or supporting a more global customer base.”
A Voice for Strategy and Growth
Tessa sees her role on the board as helping to ensure strong governance and providing strategic advice that complements IDEA’s management team.
“The board doesn’t run the business. That’s the role of management,” she says. “But we play an important part in pressure-testing the strategy, offering insights, and ensuring IDEA has the right governance in place. Broad experience across the board translates into better questions, better advice, and stronger outcomes for the organization.”
In addition to her service on the IDEA Board, Tessa also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), making her one of the few board members who actively bridge both organizations.
The Importance of Data
In today’s connected and digital marketplace, Tessa believes IDEA’s mission is more critical than ever.
“In an increasingly self-service world, rich, accurate, and readily available information is the currency of success,” she says. “IDEA plays a fundamental role by providing data that distributors and manufacturers can use to create knowledge, build customer confidence, and deliver great experiences.”
She emphasizes that this flow of information not only reduces complexity and inefficiencies but also creates opportunities for business growth across the entire electrical industry.
The Reward of Service
Since joining the board in 2024, Tessa says the highlight so far has been getting to know her fellow board members and the IDEA leadership team. “It’s been rewarding to engage with such a strong group of people, all committed to advancing the industry together,” she says.
